We drill to 3m (standard) or up to 6m (custom) to profile the soil strata — identifying clay types, fill, water tables, and rock.

DCP / density tests

Dynamic Cone Penetrometer and density readings determine how compact and stable the soil is — essential data for your engineer's footing design.

Soil classification + wind class

We determine your AS 2870 soil class (A, S, M, H1, H2, E or P) and wind classification — everything your structural engineer needs to complete the design.

Shrink/swell lab testing

What is a Site/Lot Classification?

A Site/Lot Classification is a site-specific testing regime required under AS 2870-2011. It tells your structural engineer about your soil type, reactivity, density, and any site conditions (fill, water table, rock) that affect the foundation design. Without it, your engineer can't complete your slab and footing design.

Do I need one before my DA in QLD?

Yes — most councils in South East Queensland require a site classification as part of the building approval process. Getting it early avoids costly delays down the line.

How long does it take to get my report?

Our current lead time is 5–8 business days from the date of your order. You'll get a confirmed on-site date when you place your order, and the report is delivered by email once our engineer has completed the assessment.

Do I need to be on site when you visit?

No. As long as we can access the site, you don't need to be there. We'll confirm the date in advance, complete the testing, and send you the report by email.
