GEOTECHNICAL SITE INVESTIGATIONS & ASSESSMENTS

Our engineering team consists of geotechnical and civil engineers based in Sydney NSW covering a wide range of geotechnical investigations and assessments. Our geotechnical investigation provides an assessment of existing geotechnical conditions to allow for a cost effective design. We offer a comprehensive range of investigative and testing services to all sectors including residential, civil construction, infrastructure including housing and unit developments with basements. Our report will outline the relevant detail pertaining to geology, soil profiles, recommendations for excavations and support together with footings and foundations.

Below are some of the key geotechnical investigations and reports that we offer.

SITE/SOIL CLASSIFICATION

A site classification also known as a soil or lot classification is a series of tests conducted on a site to classify the soil conditions, enabling the engineer to design the building foundations. The purpose of a site classification is to determine the expected level of reactive soil movement on your site.

For standard residential building blocks see lot classifications.

FOOTING & PIER INSPECTIONS

Our geotechnical engineering consultant will provide onsite advice and a written report outlining the recommended rock socket depth, end bearing capacity, rock class, strength and side cohesion properties.

BEARING CAPACITY ASSESSMENTS

From a geotechnical perspective the bearing capacity is the ability of the ground to support loads applied from a structure. This information used in structural footing design as the minimum required allowable bearing capacity of the material. Besides footing designs bearing capacity assessments may also be required for mobile cranes and heavy equipment for testing of working loads.

SLOPE STABILITY

Slope Stability assessments are crucial when building on steep slopes in coastal areas, bushland settings and other potential landslide areas. Our assessments assist in identifying hazards and management plans. We have experience across a number of councils and work with our associates in others.

PAVEMENT INVESTIGATIONS

Pavement investigations are a cost-effective solution for design of a new pavement or improvement /remediation of an existing pavement. Such applications include:

  • Working platforms
  • Car parking facilities
  • Residential/industrial subdivisions
  • Road projects
COMPACTION TESTING

Level 1 and Level 2 testing & inspection in accordance with AS3798-2007 Guidelines on earthworks for commercial and residential developments.

Our team will assist you in all aspects of your Level 1 or Level 2 project. As an independent geotechnical testing authority we will reduce technical risks through sharing our experience and knowledge of local quarry products and materials. This will ensure your project conforms to the design and technical specifications every time.
