We provide comprehensive geotechnical assessments tailored to meet the unique needs of your project.

Our experts deliver precise evaluations and insights to support your development objective.

Infiltration / Permeability Test

Measure how water moves through soil to assess drainage capability for design and construction planning.

Geotechnical Assessment

Comprehensive evaluation of soil and site conditions to support design and construction decisions.

Slope Stability

Analyze ground slope conditions to ensure structural safety and minimize risk of landslides or failures.

Aggressivity Test

Test soil chemical conditions to identify corrosion potential, with formal explanation letter for design use.

CBR Tests (Per Test)

Determine bearing strength of soil for road and pavement designs using the California Bearing Ratio method.

Pavement Design

Provide an independent pavement design report based on site-specific soil testing and load requirements.

Salinity Assessment

Assess soil salinity levels to determine suitability for construction and recommend protective measures.

Footing Inspection

Check excavated footing trenches for depth, cleanliness, and compliance before concrete placement.

Compaction Testing

Verify that soil or fill materials are compacted to required density and strength standards for safe foundation.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY?

★★★★★ Emma, Local Builder, Newcastle

Top-notch service from start to finish. The crew at Ideal Geotech were straight-up legends, turned up on time, explained the process clearly, and got us the report quicker than expected. Made our job way easier.

★★★★★ Tom, Developer, Gold Coast

We had a sloping block that needed checking out before building. These guys knew their stuff. Clear advice, fast turnaround, and no dramas. Wouldn’t go with anyone else

★★★★★ Olivia, Architect, Sydney

Can’t fault them. The geotech report helped us sail through council approvals. The team was super responsive and happy to answer all my annoying questions. Cheers!

★★★★★ Michael, Civil Engineer, Brisbane

I'm an engineer and have worked with a few geotech companies. These guys are up there. Reports are detailed but easy to follow, and they’re always quick to jump on a call when needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you are building a home, the National Construction Code (NCC) requires that a site specific classification be completed in order to design the foundations of the structure.

A standard site classification is a report that assists in the design of foundations for a proposed structure. This report includes testing the soil’s strength (how much weight it can hold at various depths), and how much the soil will heave (shrink and swell) when adding and taking away moisture. Other information gathered are depth to rock, depth of fill and depth to a potential water table.

A “P” classification are given to sites identified as a ‘problem site’. This classification highlights to a structural engineer that further consideration may need to be given to abnormal conditions on site. Common reasons a ‘P’ classification may be given are soft and collapsing soils, abnormal moisture conditions and uncontrolled fill to name a few.

A slope stability assessment is a report based on field work for a job site that determines a natural or man-made slope’s ability to resist failure or landsliding. These assessments are generally required for certain ‘at risk’ areas by councils but may also require one if the slope in the area of a proposed development is more than 11 degrees, near an existing retaining wall or whereby the development entails cutting into a slope.

Level 1 compaction entails full time supervision and testing of the imported or site-won material and the entire filling and compaction process. This has the highest level of assurance that the quality of fill material and the compaction process are done correctly according to AS3798 – Guidelines on earthworks for commercial and residential developments.

Level 2 compaction involves periodic inspections and testing only, whereby typically the fill layer is compacted prior to attendance and is then tested according to AS3798 to confirm if the layer has been sufficiently compacted.
